I used to mow down the pantry!
I didn't understand why at first until I knew better. The reason for the mow down, lol!
Yes, hunger is a normal biological response. And, I thank God for it. It's normal to be hungry at various times throughout the day. If we didn't have hunger and fullness hormones/cues, we wouldn't know when to eat, what to eat, when we are full, stuffed, nourished, etc.
Excessive hunger to the point of eating your arm off also happens to us humans, but it shouldn't be the norm.
Consistent excessive hunger is NOT normal. It's a RED flag for me!
Folks actually glorify hunger & dieting all the time - another RED flag for me. White knuckling their way through until they can't. Because MOST folks who want to lose weight believe that it is a sign that the diet is working.
Working until it doesn't, then you binge, mow down the fridge & the pantry, excessively eating the banned food group or all the calories they have been banned for however long.
Again that is the response to not eating enough when you're trying to lose body fat or not. Some of us are just not eating enough, even if we aren't actively trying to lose weight.
Then you ask yourself, what is wrong with me? "Why can't I just XYZ?" or "Why can't I beat these cravings?"
One of the answers to those questions... it's because you are eating like a bird!
STRONG friend, the goal should never be to eat as little as possible. The goal is to eat as much as possible to minimize adaptations while still dropping body fat in a fat loss "PHASE!" If you're trying to lose some body fat.
So, if you don't know any better YET & not sure while you are constantly hungry, whether you are intentionally trying to lose fat/weight.... why you are always mowing down the pantry at night after dinner or in between meals, eating everything in sight - here are a few reasons why:
🤔 Skipping breakfast.
🤔 Eating a small breakfast.
🤔 Eating a small lunch.
🤔 Having a sad, sad dinner with some veggies, a dry chicken breast, no sauce, no fat. Just a boring-ass dinner because you think you need to eat like this to lose body fat.
🤔 Eating very little protein.
🤔 Eating too low calories.
🤔 Eating no carbs!
🤔 Eating little to no fiber.
🤔 Eating too many snacks.
🤔 Not eating big enough or balanced meals throughout the day!
🤔 Exercising too much.
Take the list above and evaluate it to see where you can fill in the holes. And I guarantee you will not be mowing down the pantry, feeling out of control around food, or feeling like you just need more willpower.
No, ma'am, it's not willpower. It's eating enough for your unique needs so that you are WELL FED!
When you know better, you do better!
Do better with your nutrition out of self-respect for your mind, body, & soul!
STRONG friend, because when you are well-fed, no matter the goal, you'll feel amazing, you'll be able to be consistent, and you'll feel good!
