All or nothing usually gets you nothing: There are many shades of grey on your journey. There should be. There is a middle ground!
Desperation usually leads folks to doing things that are extreme, that are unsustainable, even things that are harmful to overall health & well-being.
Examples include...
-slashing calories
- juice cleanses
- detoxes
- weight loss pills
-cutting whole food groups out
- cutting out foods that you enjoy
-working out excessively
-cardio-ing 7 days a week
- going Keto
-Intermittent fasting
- working out in a sauna suit
Just to name a few…
Ways to get the scale to go down or go down faster.
Those things above, more often than not, lead to disordered eating & disordered relationship with exercise/movement.
Urgency - similar to desperation... what is the rush?!
You want the result yesterday, heck, now, this very moment. With no rational thought to the fact that the weight came on over a year, if not more, and you expect to lose it in a couple of months.
Lack of Consistency is a restriction issue as well as an urgency issue. I hear it all the time... "I can't stay consistent, or I'm just unmotivated," which ties back to a results-focused only mindset - "I want the results yesterday” mindset!
Am I right, or Am I right?!
STRONG friend it takes as long as it takes. Losing and gaining the same weight over and over is not benign. It has consequences for your overall well-being.
If you are on a fat loss journey...
- Strap in right. Do things the better way.
- Focus on the controllables & get out of the outcomes - your actions, your habits. YOU CANNOT CONTROL SCALE! It's literally impossible! -If you are making yourself lose weight, you are probably doing unsustainable things to make the scale go down.
- Focus on your wellness & nutritional habits - those things are what will help you keep your results.
- Be patient, be consistent, and be persistent.
- Please don't do a poverty deficit, do a conservative one!
- Focus on other measures of progress.
- Manage your expectations!
- Ditch the timeline... it takes as long as it takes. The slow way is the fast way. < < Read that again!
Remember this strong friend...
- What can you do forever?
- Will the methods, habits, changes, etc., that you are taking to improve your health & wellness - will they sustain your results?
- Does the protocol enhance your life or stress it?
If you can't say YES, with certainty, you probably should reevaluate what you are doing!
That's that, STRONG friend. Wishing you all the best!
