Hi

So you’re new to strength training, and don't know where or how to get started! Have you gotten no where with cardio only workouts, or are you tired of jogging? Well, I’ve got you covered. As you already know, I love lifting heavy weights. I have seen it transform my own physique, and many of my clients. Not only will it change your physique, but it will improve your confidence. Once I stopped being a Cardio queen and picked up the weights my physique changed dramatically! Don't get me wrong, cardio or conditioning has its place, but we tend to abuse it. Moving forward, I would love for you to approach cardio with a minimalist approach. The least effective dose, and when you do it, make it short and challenging. You see, the harder the session, the shorter the training session. In addition to this style of conditioning, I recommend you intersperse a couple of leisurely to brisk walking sessions. Walking has so many great benefits. Just to name a few benefits - walking decreases cortisol levels, helps you de-stress, and it's a great tool for post workout recovery. Feeling a bit sore from the previous days training? Go for walk and dissipate the lactic acid build up, you will be feeling much better after- a bit less sore! 😀

I wholeheartedly believe if you move away from the constant mind battle about weight/fat loss and focus on creating new habits or changing the bad ones, that you will be in a better place about your physique. Cultivate your Mindset by believing in yourself and loving yourself just as you are, right here in this moment as your reading this email. You know the saying, You can still love your body and improve it at the same time!

Lastly, when you start to strength train, look at your nutrition in a way that supports your activity levels vs how much you can cut out to lose weight. Feeling good and moving well becomes the priority. Whereas, always worrying about weight loss will drain you physically and emotionally. Ever try to lift weights on minimal food or carry out your day to day activities? I bet you felt like death, didn’t have energy, and snappy with your loved ones or short with people in general. Not good!

So, to follow up a bit from the last email in regards to “How to Lose Fat the Healthy way,” in which you go the unconventional route of getting in better shape and health,  which is not dieting on poverty macros and no excuses mentality, balls to the wall, or clean eating mumbo jumbo. Lasting change will come with a Sane, Simple, and Sustainable (#SSS) approach to fitness and nutrition with habit based change!

Here are some my favorite fitness reads over the last week. They are specifically dealing with Strength Training with some of the best people I look up to in the fitness industry. I think they hold valuable tools, content and great insights! Enjoy!
