Mother's Day Dining -eating the food!

Published: Fri, 05/13/16

Hi

Last week was Mother’s Day – How many of you celebrated with a special meal, a drink, and dessert?  If you did – good, you’re on the right track.  If you didn’t because you’re on a diet or a meal plan….there’s a better way out there!  I used to skip special events that involved food, or carried my own “healthy” food with me.  Disordered eating,  anyone?  Unless you’re in the final stages of preparing for a physique competition, there’s a better way!

We took the mothers in our life out to dinner for Mother’s day.  It was a special time, and we enjoyed good food and good company – remember, food isn’t always about fuel.  Contrary to that popular myth, food is about socializing, it’s emotional, and it’s an integral part of our celebrations.  Not only did I enjoy a good meal, but the restaurant was slammed busy, and our waitress was a little slow….not a big deal, but she gave us a platter of desserts and coffee after our meal, on the house.  There were four delectable desserts there, all calling my name!  Guess what!? I ate all the desserts! Not actually all, we all sampled the various desserts to see how they were.  If you’re interested in watching your calories at all, this is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth, have something delicious, and not feel guilty about it afterwards - food holds no moral value - eat it and move on.  We were all satisfied with a bite or two of each one, and we left part of each one on the table when we left.

There is a better way to nutrition and eating than constant deprivation and dieting – It’s not a catchy fix, or short term solution – instead, it’s a lifestyle change that you make one small step at a time.  On the way, you’ll enjoy the foods you eat and create sustainable, lifelong eating habits.  I’ve been on the strict meal plan, with no deviation, and let me tell you – it’s not enjoyable, and it’s not long term.  There is a better way, and I love sharing it with you! Keep following my page and reading the emails for more tips and advice on how to get there.

Lastly, one my solutions to eating just a bite or two is constant Exposure to said food. It's a daily practice. Don't give up on, don't ban the foods, and just practice.

Thank you for taking the time to read this email! If you ever have any comments or questions or anything you like to share pertaining to fitness, health, or  nutrition, I am open ears - I love getting your emails. Have a beautiful weekend and I'll see you again soon in your inbox :)
