Hey hey
Happy Friday! What’re your plans for weekend? Seen any good movies lately? I recently saw Captain America; it was really good. If you’re into Marvel Movies/Superhero movies, I highly recommend it!
My weekend will be pretty busy, I will be traveling to Seward, Alaska for the weekend and then to Kodiak, AK!! I am super
excited to share about my travels with my inner circle - of course, how I’m eating, my workouts while traveling – I will be doing lots of hiking, and the beautiful scenery! Are you taking any summer trips this year? If so, where are you going? Do you find it hard to make healthier choices? If so, hit reply and I can help you strategize.
For the month of May and some of June, I will be
covering nutrition, like I said before, and getting in and out of the gym with a good workout or your hotel room workout in under a hour. The whole point is to keep it sane, simple, and effective. If you don’t have time for an hour, do what you can with the time you have. Looking for a super simple nutrition guide to help you jump start your nutrition, you can grab it here! This is my go to model for my everyday nutrition, whether it’s traveling or I’m right at home.
Just the other day I did a 20-25 minute workout! In and out of the gym with the rest of the day to do as I please. Training is priority for me, it’s part of my lifestyle. However, I am not a maniac about it. There was a time in the past that I was super intensive about my workouts – had to get them in no matter what. Things have changed and evolved
to where exercise doesn’t consume me or take over my life. I fit it in where I can fit it in. If I can’t get to the gym or I have no weights, my body weight works just fine….or a walk works great too. And guess what? It’s good enough! Always remember this one thing –Fitness Should Enhance your life not Hinder it!
I seized the moment today and took an impromptu hike up a steep mountain! Right after my lower body workout – DOMS is already setting in. My husband and I took a drive in Palmer, AK - he wanted to show me where he grew up, etc…. Can I just tell you, everywhere you look there’s mountains in plain sight! So beautiful. Anyways, my hubby took me to this trail called Lazy Mountain Trail. It was quite the hike – its 5 miles round trip and can take 3-4 hours. I would have to say
it’s probably one of the highest hikes I’ve ever done. Didn’t expect it to be so high and it was kicking my butt. We didn’t finish it today because we started late. Going back probably sometime next week to do the whole thing. I’ll let you know how it goes! Remember, when you’re out and about and have the opportunity to get some non-gym impromptu exercise, do it! It’s a wonderful change of pace!
While traveling I don’t stress about nutrition ever. I do the best I can with what’s available. The stress of worrying about it will wreak more havoc on your body more than the way you’re eating on vacation. Let me tell you this – do the best you can by having protein with
every meal in some form or fashion, cover your fruits and veggies, and drink tons of water. The water helps with the water retention from eating higher sodium foods – will flush you out nicely. So keep the water intake in check. Over the last few days, my husband and I have been sharing and splitting meals. Another good thing to do is double up on the protein when you can – because there may be less the rest of the day! Today I did this on a wrap I had at this sandwich joint. It was satisfying
and so tasty. In fact, I ended up splitting it – half at lunch, and half later in the day after our hike. This way, I didn’t overeat, and I was able to enjoy a meal out. When you’re on a vacation, enjoy what you have available and don’t let obsessing over nutrition ruin the experience!
Have a wonderful weekend! If you have a moment drop me a line or two and share your summer travels
with me!
