Meet yourself where you are!

Hi

Hope you’re having a great week.  I’ve been on this walking kick lately, and along with that, I’ve been thinking about the common belief that you have to be killing it to be working out.  You don’t always have to kill it - Do what you can with what you have! Whether that’s 10 or 20 minutes – it all helps. One set of dumbbells, or only two workouts a week - always remember to do what you can. We are not perfect, and sometimes life happens.

There’s no guilt, no judging. Just do what you can. I always say “Meet yourself half way.” Cut yourself some slack. One down week doesn’t mean it’s all over. You can still move forward. Cliché as it sounds, tomorrow is a new day. No restarting or getting back on the wagon - just start right where you left off.

Miss a few walks this week, or missed a few training sessions? Whelp, there’s always tomorrow.

Myself, this week, for instance- a few times this week, I was only able to get about a 30-minute walk in. Boy, did I want to go longer, but time didn’t permit it. So, I accepted what I could do with the time that I had. You may only have 10 minutes – remember, something is better than nothing.

Take the time that you have and utilize that time, and maybe tomorrow you will have more time. Look for a time where you can get it in. Schedule it in your calendar and make it a non negotiable. As I’ve said before - Perfection is the enemy of good.

How do you meet yourself exactly where you are?  Here’s a few tips:

1. Stop judging yourself - appreciate yourself. We are unique in our own way, appreciate what we can do and work towards your goals.

2. Work on one thing at time. Baby steps lead to greater things. Don’t rush the process.

3. Look at what you can do and build upon that. Move on to other things once you conquered the said things.

4. Extreme methods are a sure fire way to crash and burn – slow, steady, and moderate wins in the fitness game.

P.S. As always, drop me a line or two and let me know how things are going on your fitness and health journey. Any struggles pertaining to fitness or nutrition or what is going good for you!
