Hi
When’s the last time you went for a swim ? I know it’s getting hot out here, so what’s holding you back? ! If you’re in the hot states, I know it’s scorching. Texas is already approaching the mid 90’s. The weather channel apps say’s it feels like 101, and it sure does. I don’t mind it and I don’t waste my time complaining about
it.
The last time, I went swimming was yesterday! It’s actually my first swim of the year.
Yesterday, before swimming I did my sprints late morning at the nearby track. Call me crazy, but I had an inkling to get back to my love of sprinting. (Insert photo and the workout I did) Best time to start, of course, is in the hot heat of the summer,
lol! There was a good breeze going though, and it was actually still cool.
Post sprint session! Ended up doing 10 sprints total with some walking lunges thrown in!
So as I was finishing
up sprints, I looked over and noticed folks were swimming in the pool next to the track. I was like, ooooh that sounds so refreshing right now. So I got on the Google to see the fees, hours, and what not, and rushed home to tell my husband we should go for a swim. He was all over it, seeing that we don’t have the beautiful Florida beaches anymore, sad face! 😒
Happy face 😀 that we have the pool nearby, which is free by the way ,and some awesome creeks right around the area where we live. In fact, today the pool was closed so we took the dogs to the creek to walk and swim.
I forgot how much of a workout swimming is! I
went to the pool with intention to just chill and cool down. Wooo, my husband was like let’s race and do some laps. I’m like, I already did my workout for the day!
We raced and we were pretty much tied - until I stopped because I couldn’t breathe, lol! So hard to do when you haven’t done it in a long time!
Swimming is my new jam!
I’ve never used it for the purpose of fitness! I always knew that it’s a pretty good workout, but never incorporated it because, well you know, I am a meathead – I love to pick things up and put them back down! #BecauseMuscles
Swimming taxes so much of the body, pretty much works every muscle in the body. The breathing is different than when your getting it in on dry land. I'm exited for the new challenge!
Loved it so much, I ran out and grabbed a new suit, some goggles, nose clip, and some ear plugs. I'm not the
strongest swimmer and if I want to get good at swimming, I'm going all in. I always suck to much water up and the water in the ears situation seems to stay forever. Wish me luck, my hubby will be coaching me. You know how it can be when you workout with your significant other, it doesn't always go smoothly!
Anyways, woke up today and my lats and upper body felt like I hit the iron hard - in actuality, I just swam a few laps!
Do you swim? If you don’t, you should give it a go for a nice change of
pace. I never understood what all the rave was with swimming laps and doing water aerobics - now I see why people love it! It’s also a really good, no impact form of cardio for those that want to get some of that in.
Go on and get yo swim on! It’s summer, and the pools, lakes, and streams are calling – and they’ll cool you off. I don’t want to hear the old excuse “I don’t
have a bikini body” or any of that nonsense – we come in all shapes and sizes. You know how you get a bikini body? You put a bikini on or any swimsuit of your choice and take your beautiful self to the beach or pool or wherever! Kapeesh!? It would be a shame to look back on your life with regret because you skipped so much fun due to your body image. You can have fitness and physique goals, work towards those, and enjoy the body you currently
have!
My favorite fitness reads of the week:
P.S. Are you a swimmer, do you swim as a part of
fitness routine? Do me a favor, hit reply and let me know. I would love to hear what you do for your swim sessions!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Yours in Health and Happiness
