You’re in for a shorter email this week, brace yourself! :D
How many times, have you thrown the towel in? A bet several times. It’s just like the “I will start on Monday” mantra. Before I picked up fitness and taking care of my
body because of life – because I love it, I would always say, “I am going to start on Monday” or if I screwed my diet up during the week – whelp I’ll start Monday. Who knows how many Mondays passed and I never started or never showed up?
Monday, Monday, Monday, the best day to start stuff, right? Nope, not really. Really, what is the deal with
Mondays? The going thing is that Mondays are fresh start because it’s the beginning of the week. It’s like we get to wipe the slate clean – but the slate really isn’t wiped clean, is it?
I stopped looking at Mondays as a fresh start some time ago – just like the New Year. I started to think, I can start any dang day I want. Mondays don’t have any
magical unicorn fairy dust properties or something. The sooner you start, the closer you are to your goals.
Any day of the week is a good start!
Part of the reason we wait to start on Mondays is because of diets. We know that when a diet starts, we will have to deprive and deny foods that we love. So, if we wait to
Monday, we can eat all our favorite foods, like it’s our last meal before death or something. Yea it is death because that’s how diets feel! Don’t they?
What we are also saying is that we are really not ready to start or that the time is not now.
So,
you’re ready to start something new…. Walking 20 minutes a day, eating more veggies, reading the bible more, or what have you. Why can’t you start the moment the thought enters your mind? There is no time like the present.
As soon as we let go all the stuff surrounding why we can’t start now (today) – that’s one step in the right direction. There is no hard and fast rule but the rule that you
create - not the ones that the nutrition and fitness industry have conjured up.
You want to start eating better and working out? Well start today, because later never really comes. Monday rolls around again, or New Year’s or [insert magical date], and we let something get in the way of starting.
Then we feel guilty, helpless, and defeated because of a stupid date. One way to solve that! Start now.
Remember there’s nothing magical about Mondays.
If you’re really ready to start and make a change, you’ll do it right there that
instant.
I’ll leave you with this, as you may know, I have a passion for helping women quite the diet mentality and learn to love themselves from the inside out. Starting on Mondays goes hand in hand with diets. If you are really ready to give up the diets, then starting any day of the week shouldn’t be a problem. Know this – all foods in
moderation can be part of a healthy lifestyle.
So start NOW – this very moment. If you have been putting off getting healthier, moving more, drinking less soda, etc. This very breath – just start.
