Cake, cookies, pie, ham, and green beans

Good morning

I actually can't stand plain green beans - bad dieting experience #AntiDiet, I may have mentioned it a few times now. However, I do like Green Bean casserole, I know I know - canned green beans, Ha! No foods are off limits because hang ups about foods continue struggles and extremes.

There is no track... there is just life. NO on or off switch. Just sometimes, we eat more than we should and other times we eat just the right amount - again #becauseHuman.

There is just food... there's spinach, there's broccoli, and there's candy, and rolls. All of these have a place in one's eating. The only food that doesn't belong is the food that you just don't like. There are certain foods that we should eat more of, and less of certain ones. There is one thing for sure, having a healthy relationship with all foods is just as important as eating healthy.

We have this notion that we are cheating when aren't eating the so-called "clean foods". So, I always ask folks, then you only eat things that you grow? Or, you only eat food that you get right out of your backyard - or my favorite one is - did you wash that broccoli with soap? LoL!

We can actually thank the dieting/weight loss industry for this paradigm. All is well, if we eat clean during the week, then we can head into the weekend ready to reward ourselves for eating squeaky clean.

Confession - I operated for a good while with the eat clean mindset.  I was rewarded with an unhealthy relationship with food for a good while. Total 360 from where I operate now. Now from an abundance mindset and somewhere in the middle – the gray area. It's a sweet place to be.

No more on and off - just moderate.

I know the holidays can bring a lot of anxiety for most folks, I get it – I’ve been there. However, it doesn't have to be that way. Nothing has to change during the holidays. You eat your holiday meals and move on.

Don't associate food with moral value. It's just food! Tell yourself this every time that feeling of guilt pops up - quiet it, acknowledge it and let it go. Overeating at a few meals during the holidays won't mess up anything unless you allow it. It's the aftermath that gets you - throwing in the towel so to speak and going all in. "I'll just start over on Monday or January 1st.”

Literally, get back in your own power. Own it, it happened, and adjust. All is not lost, you got this. Nothing has to change because it's Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Years. Its 3 holidays in the span of a couple of months, that's all. So, go on and enjoy your family and friends, and a cookie, cake, a salad, or whatever. #MaintainDontGain
