Be Patient Through the Journey and put some Grace on it!

Good Morning

We are always in a rush to get things done. I know life is short, so we think that we have to do it all now or get it done now. In some cases this may be true, but it’s not true for every aspect of our life.

When it comes to changing your lifestyle, slow and steady wins the race, and it's more sustainable.

Zero to hundred real quick isn't always optimal.

I, myself, for example, cut back on fast food several years ago when I started to change my lifestyle. I did this before I did anything else.  Fast food was my first habit to break.

I was like, what's the one thing that I could change that would help me go in the right direction. At the time, for me, it was cutting back on fast food and cooking more at home. When I did have to stop for Fast Food, I would pick a healthier option more times than not.

Let's face it, trying to be perfect doesn't exist, even when we aim for it, it often time backfires. Not saying not to strive for the best, but be realistic.

If we have a busy lifestyle, we may find ourselves at a restaurant or fast food drive in. So, what do you do? Drop the perfect and choose from the best thing that is available.

A close friend of mine started with giving up soda. It was a doable goal for them. They started there. Slowly over time, they began to build upon the first step. Now they are running Tough Mudders and lifting all the weights, but this didn't happen overnight.

One of the best things is that they have kept the weight off. Why? Because it was a slow process, not rushed. They were patient, they trusted the process, and didn't look for any shortcuts or quick fixes.

It's a journey, not a destination. Time, patience, consistency, and Grace. It will be 6 or 7 months later and you’ll look in the mirror or compare some before and after pictures and you will be stunned. Remember the journey doesn’t end there, it’s a lifestyle, so keep your health strong, your body strong, and be able to do all the things you enjoy doing with ease.

You best believe I had many bumps in the road along the way to where I am now. My friend did too, and many of my clients have. We aren't perfect, and if finding a healthy a way of living, losing fat, etc.. was easy, we all would be fit and healthy.  There would be no Obesity, etc. It's not easy, so cut yourself some slack and put some Grace on it.

Again, it takes time, effort, consistency, and patience.

And....

Doing something rather than nothing, and I must also reference the all or nothing, isn't good either - it leads to nothing.

So, if anything is holding you back, or if you're looking for the perfect plan or perfect day to start - There is no time better than the present. When you do start, don't go in guns blazing. One step at a time - don't worry about the little things. Start with that "One Thing!"
