Happy Labor day!
It's Monday, and according to Monday in the Fitness world, it's #MondayMotivation. Everything starts on Monday when we are starting something new. Diets anyone? A new exercise plan, etc..
I get it; I used to be the same in my dieting days - but it got me nowhere, even further away from my desires. I always started a new diet on Monday.
Little did I know this cycle would go on for years, spinning my wheels, taking a few steps forwards and a ton of steps backward.
Diet after diet, Monday after Monday, New years after New Years, after such and such date I'll get started.
Any day is a good day not just Monday. There is no magic in Monday; the magic comes from you taking ACTION any day of the
week!
You're in your way if you are putting a time frame on losing the pounds, picking a start day, or an end date. Starting a new diet every few weeks, or hopping from program to program or worrying about a number on the scale. Eliminating whole food groups or foods that that you like, only to end up binging on them on the weekend.
The above are all set
backs with snap back consequences. They were for me until I got out of the cycle; I got out of my own way.
If you are truly ready to get out of your own way and really ready to make a change, you can mentally and physically start right there at that moment. It doesn't have to be the next day or next week or after the holidays (which are here and upon us).
What can you do right in that moment when you are thinking of making a change?
For example:
- Ate too much at the last meal? You don't have to say #EffIt I'll start next week. That very next meal and in the same day you can make a better choice and get right back on the proverbial track.
- No veggies in the
fridge? Get up and go to the store and buy some.
- Haven't worked out in a week? No need for a start date, right? You can start that very same day.
- Want to start leisure walking more? Start that day!
- Want to drink less soda? Drink one less soda that day and then drop one more each day. Before you know it, you won't be drinking it like you use
to.
Viola, One step, one foot in front of the other! Small steps add up to amazing results without turning your whole life upside down.
