A couple of days ago, I did a quick piece on belly fat over on my Facebook page and t’s too good not share. It's something that I talk about often because I get the question from so many women. It's probably one of the top questions that I get - how do I lose belly fat, what exercises can I do for my stomach, how do I get a flatter stomach,
etc....
So, I hopped on Facebook and did a Live on the Do's and Don'ts of Losing Belly Fat - it's not my first, and it probably won't be my last because it is my mission to help women who are fed up with the extremes, the yo-yo
diets, and my favorite thing to say Voodoo Quackery - just done!
Please know that those detox teas, squeems, and other things are not the solution, they are a waste - misspelled "waist" on purpose - it's a (waste) of your time and
money. They do not make you lose fat in the midsection. They may give you the illusion that they are working, but the results are negligible, if any.
It's frustrating right? You're doing all the things, but the fat is not going
anywhere. I feel ya, because that was me. For many many years, I kept turning, well cranking the dial. Adding more cardio, restricting my calories - I mean like too low, and overtraining - 6 to 7 days a week. The belly did not budge. As a matter of fact, it appeared bigger. I was lean everywhere else except for my belly.
The measurement did not go down on my belly whatsoever. This is an indicator that you are not losing belly fat. Again, I was doing all the exercise, dieting, and doing all the cardio. So, why wasn't the belly fat going away?
The reason the belly does, or did not budge was that it was a Stress/hormonal issue - not emotional necessarily, but physical - emotional stress affects the body as well.
The hormone Cortisol was too. Dieting excessively and exercising excessively, lack of sleep and stress management was the cause of the belly fat.
More exercise was not the answer, dieting harder isn't the answer either. It's actually hindering your progress. When I cut back on my exercise - the type and the amount and stopped dieting excessively my belly responded.
More is not better. Better is Better. Suffering is not prerequisite to shedding fat.
The things that should be in place to help you
lose belly fat without losing your mind:
- A moderate deficit - be sure to eat adequate protein: .7-1 gram per lb of bodyweight. If you don't want to worry about numbers - be sure to have a serving of protein at every
meal - the size and thickness of your palm is what a protein serving size is.
- Walk a lot, and I mean more than once a week. The benefits of walking is second to none. It alleviates so much stress, which is contributing to your belly fat that you are trying to lose.
- Strength Training is the main entree with some cardio as the side dish - but don't abuse it.
- Patience
- Consistency
- Time
- Sleep Hygiene and Stress
Management
This is not the answer most ladies want to hear - it's not sexy, but it works. As you already know, you've come to the wrong place if you are looking for quick-fix methods.
