This weekend, I'm
finally getting a chance to try my hand again at Kayaking. I haven't gone since I was in Vegas, visiting a sweet friend and her husband. We had the best time. That was my first time ever doing it, and I really enjoyed it!
The hubs and I are also gonna go play frisbee golf! Have you ever played? It's a good time and folks that play it for sport, or should I say in competition, take it so seriously, lol! It's a good time for sure!
Anywho, have you ever started out on your fitness/ health journey and subscribed to a deadline or particular date?
Me - raising my hand! So, I did all the things - extreme things to get the scale to move. It backfired!
As a matter of fact, many women that I have worked with have placed deadlines on their weight loss, dates and such, and I have to be this size or weigh this much by...
I often get the question "how long will it take to get where I want to be."
We are so
accustomed to having things instantly. When do we want it, we WANT IT NOW! The urgency is so real.
It's also why so many women struggle and become frustrated when things don't happen according to the deadline that they have
set for themselves.
Then, in turn, we give up because it's taking too long in our minds, and then we never get anywhere. This only sets ourselves back even further! Or we start another plan only to repeat the cycle
- the yo-yo diet cycle. No Bueno!
It's exhausting, right?! It's the DIET MENTALITY rearing it's strong head!
That's why my answer to the question "How long will it take" is two-fold:
1. It Depends - everyone hates hearing this answer!
2. And as the subject line of this email says, "It takes as long as it takes!"
There is no deadline when it comes to our health, fitness, fat loss, etc.
If we rush fat loss, the results won't stick. One, because when we lose weight/fat fast, we are setting ourselves up for a rebound – gain the weight back plus some.
Two - the harder we restrict and deprive, the less likely we can adhere to the plan.
Ask yourself - what is the rush?
My friend, do you
want the habits, the fat loss, etc... to stick?
Or….
Do you want to continue to be miserable and keep yo-yoing year after year?!
The decision is yours!
, not being patient will not get you anywhere but right back where you started!
Giving up and not trusting the process of physique change. Program/diet jumping is not doing you any favors.
Be patient, be consistent. Don't
worry about how long it takes, stay out of the outcomes and focus on what is going well, celebrate all your WINS!
It takes as long as needed. It's a journey, not a sprint or even a
marathon.
The time frame is irrelevant! Don't rush it.
