So, my sweet frand, the holidays are upon us. Can you believe Thanksgiving is just next week? Time sure does fly!
So, about that Holiday Contingency Plan?
Holidays already bring enough stress with travel, kids out of school and running around driving you cray cray - kids doing what they do, shopping, cleaning, decorating, etc. - the list could go on and on.
Long story short, we don't need to add more to that list with dieting and such.
I know this time of year can be stressful for a lot of folks in regards to food and such. One of the main reasons is the Diet Mentality and everything that ties back to it.
Below is how I used to feel around the holidays, and you may be as well, but my sweet friend, please know this - all will be well!
- You may be feeling anxious about all the food that will be available. << Navigate all the food with all the Nutrition strategies that I share all the time.
- You're probably worried about weight gain. Any weight gain will dissipate, it's usually only water weight anyway, and stressing about scale weight just raises the stress hormone cortisol even higher!
- You may even be worried about getting your workouts in. << You know I have the solution for this, but rest assured, it's not about punishing yourself with workouts or working out to earn your holiday meals!
My friend, I don't want you to be worried or stressed out about your food, your diet, and please don't be trying to diet during the holidays, or the other extreme - the eff its. Neither one feels good!
My hope is that you will enjoy the holidays, enjoy your family, and have the best time.
- Eat the foods that you love! Leave the stuff that you just don't love; I hope that you never feel obligated or pressured to eat foods that don’t serve your soul!
- Eat in moderation! Be mindful.
- Keep your Nutritional Habits going that you have created.
- Stay Hydrated!
- Get your veggies in when you can.
- Do the best that you can with what's available!
That's the only Contingency Plan you need, !
No extremes in either direction.
Eat what you really like, savor every bite, enjoy your family, play, laugh. Eat the delicious food and simply move on!
Workout if you like to, but not because you have to - you get to because it's something you love doing.
After any holiday meal, or if you eat till you’re stuffed - this happens because we are human. Simply move on! Get back on the "proverbial track” and pick up where you left off! Wait - there is no track, it's just life!
So, my friend, enjoy Thanksgiving next week, hush the diet devil sitting on your shoulder and keep it moving!
All will be well!
Last but not least, whatever fills your cup during these busy seasons of life, make sure you keep doing it, even if it's just 10 minutes of quiet time to yourself, or if it's a quick 20-minute workout or 5 minutes of journaling, or getting your nails done - do it! Make it a non-negotiable so that you don't lose your self - lose your mind literally.
And that my friend, is all I have to say about that!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
