Happy Monday! How's it going! I hope all is well and I hope you had a wonderful weekend.
I wanted to give you a little mini challenge this week. I love love Push-ups, they're one of my favorite Bodyweight movements because you can do them anywhere!
Plus, there’s a reason push-ups are an excellent exercise…. they work almost every muscle in your body.
So, this week, I want to challenge you to work on your Push-ups every day this week.
💪🏾💪🏾10 PUSH-UPS EVERY DAY (Mon-Sun)! (If you’re already a push-up boss, there are advanced options below). I will also share one of my blogs on getting more push-ups under your belt.
Push-ups are an amazing exercise. Once you nail the form, you’ll be amazed at how fast you’ll feel stronger.
That’s because the push-up actually is more of a core exercise than you might think - when the core is STRONG, your whole body will feel STRONG and able. So, be sure to keep your core engaged throughout the entire movement.
Important Tip: If you want to increase your push-up game, and you’re not able to complete one yet… practice with “Incline Push-Ups” rather than on your knees. Simply place your hands on a bench or chair or in a squat rack/smith machine the gym!
How to execute a proper push-up:
Start at the top of a high plank, with your hands directly under your shoulders - or slightly out but not to far, hands firmly on the ground - make sure your fingers are spread open as well and your weight is evenly distributed throughout your entire hands. Press your toes into the ground to create a stable base for your legs and
brace your core and squeeze your glutes.
Holding your body stable, bend your elbows so that your body lowers toward the floor until your chest grazes the ground. Your elbows should remain fairly close to your body - don’t let them “wing” out so that your body looks like a T - about 30-45-degree angle is what you want. It really helps to think about keeping your hands pressed into the floor. At the bottom of the push-up your body should look like an arrow
shape.
Core still strong, exhale as you push back up the top.
