Hi , happy Wednesday!
If you wonder how certain foods affect you – or why some days you find you’re hungrier than others – there’s no better way to get to the bottom of it than to keep a food and mood journal.
It's a game-changer. It's one the of things that I have my clients do if they're unaware of how foods are affecting their hunger, cravings, and energy. I like to get the root before we do or change anything! A lot of the time, the issue with the solutions are found right there on the paper!
So, basically, in a food/mood journal, you write down what and when you eat, when you workout, when you wake up/go to sleep…. along with HOW you’re feeling at the time (aka your mood!).
Then, 30 to 60 minutes after you eat, you write down how you’re feeling AGAIN!
This doesn’t have to be anything fancy – you can use a Google doc, your phone’s note app, or a notebook.
After doing this for an entire week or two, you likely will start to uncover patterns. Some you may have had for YEARS and haven’t even realized it until you do this exercise!
For example, you might find that your go-to lunch leaves you feeling “hangry” mid-afternoon, especially if you’ve done a hard workout before heading to work or even the day before.
Or maybe you notice that every time you feel like diving into the snacks at work, you’re feeling stressed or upset.
Maybe you can't seem to bust through that training plateau, or you've been running out of gas in the middle of your workout!
Uncovering these patterns will give you a new level of understanding about how your body works, and allow you to tweak your meals and activities to keep your energy levels high and your cravings at bay!
You'll really be able to see if you are eating enough or too little for your energy and activity levels.
It won’t take long, and I guarantee it’ll be an eye-opening experience to help you get a handle on your nutrition, particularly your hunger, energy, and cravings.
Awareness and knowledge is empowering when it comes to knowing what YOU uniquely need!
So, will you take a week or two and give this shot? Hit reply and let me know. I can't wait to see you what you discover - after a week or two, email me and let me know what you found about your nutrition!
Hope your day is amazing, talk soon!
