Hey, hey ,
Happy Monday! What's good with you?
I'm doing well. I can't complain. The sun is shining, and it's gonna warm up to a high of 60 degrees, lol! Anything below 70 is cold, lol, I guess that's the Florida girl in me. I'm in Travelers Rest, SC visiting family for the week, and then I'm headed back to Pensacola for a bit.
Anywho... I hope your day is going well and that there's some sunshine in your life today!
Let's hop into the power of taking things one step at a time.
, have you set a big lofty goal for this year? Like, do a big hike at National Park, get 5 pull-ups, deadlift your body weight, run a 1/2 marathon or even a full marathon (one of my clients has a plan to run a 1/2 one in November), drop some body fat, become more of a minimalist, save money to buy or pay off a house or even retire, move to new state, or... well, you get the
idea.
Big JUICY GOALS! Nothing wrong with having them at all!
If you have them, okay, cool, but let's break them down a bit.
They can take time … energy … and a LOT of patience.
Which can make them seem OVERWHELMING … which means it will likely be harder to keep your energy and motivation up!
When it comes to big juicy goals, you must break your juicy goals down into mini-juicy goals... goals that you can achieve in a short period of time!
I know you’ve probably heard this before, but it’s shocking how many people don’t actually put this into practice.
When you create smaller goals, you tap into the power of momentum to push yourself forward and celebrate the small wins along the journey. Along with remember that ALL progress matters - progress is progress! #ProgressNotPerfection
For example, the client that I mentioned above wants to run a 1/2 marathon. They're not going from 0 to 100. They use to run but haven't in a couple of years. They're not going from the couch to running the miles required for a 1/2 marathon! That would be crazy, right?!
They're gonna start with a mini-goal of jogging/walking for a certain amount of time.
The same goes for you! For any goal, really! Breaking goals down will give you the confidence to keep building up to that Big Juicy goal!
If it's racing, you work up to a 5k so on and so forth.
If it's getting 5 pull-ups/chin-ups? Maybe it's starting with inverted rows - pulling your yourself that way for reps and then moving on to flexed arm hangs, while learning the proper body mechanics for the pull or chin-up - learning how to create total body tension, brace your core, pulling with your back not your arms, etc. and then, of course, getting the first one!
Doesn't that make sense?!
The key: recognize and celebrate each new mini-goal! This helps you build up some serious confidence and excitement, making it a LOT more likely for you to CRUSH your ultimate goals!
It’s incredibly EMPOWERING!
I know we talked about your word the other day for 2020! Are there any juicy goals that you want to achieve for 2020? It doesn't really have to be big juicy goals. Maybe you have something you want to achieve or get better at?
And, more importantly, what’s that FIRST step you’re going to take to achieve it?
Hit reply to this email and share your goal with me!
Lastly, don't go 0 to 100 right off the bat. Break it down, take things one small step at a time. And, remember when you mess up, cause you will - you are human, so dust your shoulders off and keep going!!
Have an amazing day, STRONG friend!
