When it comes to your strength & nutrition goals, has the fast way really worked or are you still spinning your wheels?!
I know we all want results, right!? Results that last a lifetime, not just a season? Am I right?
The faster, the better! << Somehow, we have been led to believe this!
I know, for me, when I tried the faster way... like slashing my calories even further, taking diet pills, and training like a maniac, I would always burnout and binge, so on and so forth.
I also see this phenomena with the women that I work with after they have spent years and years of yo-yo dieting, while doing every fitness class under the sun, plus running!
Wooo weee! Lemme tell you, it's exhausting and not very uplifting!
Guess what, my STRONG friend? The rushing, the slashing to get "there" is actually holding you back, slowing down the progress, and making things much harder for you. Especially when it comes to MAINTAINING those results for the LONG-HAUL!
The SLOW WAY is the FASTER WAY! << Read it again and let it sink in!
Have you ever heard the saying, “To go faster, you must slow down?”
It’s an idea that has been around for ages, because it actually works.
It can be a hard concept to wrap your mind around, but U.S. President Abraham Lincoln summed it up pretty well with this quote:
“Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.”
So how does this apply getting results with your strength & nutrition habits, whether that's fat loss goals, maintaining, or building muscle?!
It's about building a Foundation of STRONG Habits! It's so important because everything rests on it!
The basics work, you see! But because you are in a rush and want the results now, you miss the forest for the trees.
It's so easy to get lured in, tempted to try what your sister/friend/co-worker/Sally is doing! You know all the voodoo quackery methods that are out there to speed things up, to get results fast, to fit in a dress by "X" date!
DON'T DO IT! It's not sustainable.
You will get the result that you desire if you stick to the BASICS. The SIMPLE things, because when it's SIMPLE, it will be SUSTAINABLE, AND then you'll be able to stay CONSISTENT!
With strength and nutrition, those basic include:
1. Strength Training - i.e. Lifting the Things 2-5 times a week with progressive overload!
2.Getting enough sleep.
3. Reducing stress.
3. Daily Movement, such as hitting 10K steps a day. Move in a way you enjoy outside of the gym!
4. Drinking plenty of water.
5. Patience!
6. Building your meals around protein and eating your fruits and veggies - building balanced meals!!
BONUS Hack:
If you are in fat loss mode - modestly creating a deficit, but not staying in it forever!
Don't overcomplicate the things!
If the above strength and nutrition basics are part of your regimen, you will definitely get the results that you desire!
