I've got a game-changing nutrition tip for you in this email about your muscle repair and recovery.
You probably already know what that nutrition tip is?! It’s something I stress all the time!
Nutrition and diet - the way you eat is SO important to overall health and well-being!
Here's some indisputable background for my nutrition tip, which is all about protein.
Your body is basically made of protein.
Your body uses it to build your muscles, organs, skin, and tendons and proteins are a major part of the enzymes, hormones, neurotransmitters, and more than that your body uses to drive hundreds of its functions.
Not only is your body basically constructed of protein, it's also the number 1 macronutrient that satisfies your hunger for the longest period of time. It is SO helpful in keeping cravings at bay, your energy high, and keeping your hunger in check!
So, in a landslide, protein is super, super important!
That's the background, but here's the tip:
A lot of us only load up on protein-heavy foods one or two times a day with our dinner or lunch.
A better bet is to spread your protein intake over the course of the day and have a protein source with each of your meals.
By doing this, you will balance out your blood sugar, keep things even keeled - balanced if you will.
Furthermore, eating enough protein will help you with muscle repair and recovery AND help your body keep its muscle as you get older.
So, do your best to have a protein with every meal.
Some of the best sources of protein include:
- Meat
- Fish
- Poultry
- Eggs & Egg whites
- Legumes
- Greek Yogurt
And if getting enough protein in is a challenge, you also can try using a protein powder in a smoothie. One of the ways I help my clients get more protein in their diets is by having them increase their portions at meals.
Some other great ways to increase your protein intake with ease:
- make sure you're having it in your first meal of the day.
- plan your meals around protein.
- batch cook protein sources ahead of time so that it's readily available to add to your meals.
Your muscles work so hard for you all day long, plus some if you are lifting the things, working on building muscle, and even maintaining your muscle - help fuel them with the building blocks they need to keep them healthy and strong!
If you need help with a plan that works for you and your goals, I am here to help!
