I know, I know, it’s a lofty goal. I can’t stop, won’t stop. It’s my life's work because when you are STRONG and your body is resilient, you can do so much more!
What happens when you get a barbell, dumbbell, and or Kettlebell in your hands? Any external force that makes your muscles WORK!
The physical is obvious:
- You look STRONGER and feel stronger too.
- Muscles are showing up.
- Your arms, shoulder, legs, glutes, etc. look defined, strong, fit.
- You can lift things in everyday life much easier.
- Strengthen of your bones.
- Less body fat.
You can’t see it, but lifting weights contribute to increased metabolism.
Furthermore, it’s SO important to lift the things when trying to lose fat. When you don’t strength train, you will risk losing muscle - no Bueno.
Not utilizing strength training while pursuing fat loss will result in a slower metabolism, as well as not much fat loss, if any….
This means your body fat percentage did not change even though you lost weight. Which will leave you looking like a smaller/softer version of yourself, with no shape or muscle tone.
I rolled my ankle twice a couple of weeks ago while hiking. I didn’t fall and didn’t have anything to grab onto. I bet if I was weak or lacked muscle, I would have fallen and hurt something else. I can only attribute that to standing on some STRONG legs, which makes me more resistant to injuries.
Outside of the physical, we can increase the quality & longevity of our lives! Did you know that lifting weights also decreases the risk of dementia?
Again, if you didn't know, lifting will help minimize muscle loss, which begins after the age of 30. Losing muscle is a big deal! I want you to build some more of and hold onto it!
The internal benefits that we often forget about until it’s almost too late…
- Keeping osteoporosis at bay.
- Warding off type 2 diabetes.
- Physical disabilities.
- Cognitive function.
- Lower blood pressure.
- Increase bone mineral density.
You see, I say almost because as long as you get started, it’s never too late and you’re never too old!!! Read that again.
