Hey, hey, STRONG friend! Happy Fri-yay!
Let's talk about making progress - getting results today! I'm swooping in with a little tough love today.
I wanted to share some actionable things that you can do that will help you move in the direction that you want to go!
They will up-level your results!
Even if you feel stuck, you know that pesky plateau that many folks think they are in.
Basically, a plateau is when your results stall out, and you stop seeing the progress you saw when you first started your program, whether that be a nutrition plan or a training plan.
Most of the time it's not a real plateau. Many folks just think it is, but what's really going on is the lack of executing the controllables day in and day out of the program - aka consistency MOST of the time.
So, here are a few reasons why it may not be getting the results that you want:
1. You kinda-sorta follow your program, or you program hop a lot, or you're not actually following a program - you're doing IG swipe workouts!
Shiny object syndrome, anyone?! We've all been there. We think that program is better over there, or we see our favorite IG Fitspo hawking a quick fix diet and training program. No Bueno!
It's important to see your program through so that you see the fruits of your lifting.
See it through and then change it!
2. Hormones, Stress, Sleep Deprivation, and Under Recovering.
Your body isn't a machine! It's an incredibly complex organism that functions best when it's in balance.
So many things can throw it out of balance, from being overtired to overstressed and even undernourished and overworked.
You can't keep throwing more and more stuff into trying to make your body lose weight. The body will push it back because it wants to protect you.
As I always say, treat your body right, and it will treat you right! So don't set your deficit too low, don't overdo your training, make sure you are taking adequate rest days, and make sure you're eating well - nourishing food even if you are in fat loss mode!
More is not better; better is better! Train Smart, Train Hard, but Recover harder.
3. You're Not REALLY in a Plateau, as I mentioned above.
If you only rely on the scale to track your results, you're missing out BIG TIME!
Your body could actually be changing in a big way, EVEN if the scale doesn't move.
That's why it's important to measure other things - like your energy levels, stress levels, how your clothes fit, body measurements, improved quality of life, gym performance, progress photos - visual changes - just to name a few!!
Case in point, a client of mine, did her check-in the other day, and she was surprised to find that overall she lost 5 inches!!! That's fat loss, not just weight loss.
The scale is fickle, so don't use it as your only measure of progress!!
I hope this list helps you uplevel your progress.
Thank you for reading! I hope you have the best weekend!
