Happy Tuesday ! I hope all is well.
I want you to imagine eating 800-900 calories a day to lose weight.
How does that sound and feel to you?
Lol, that's my breakfast.
You wouldn't be able to eat much food. Am I right or am I right?!
Miserable, right. You may not even be able to put it into words.
Some other psychological & physiological feels that you may have experienced or will experience if you attempt to lose weight, not fat, in an aggressive manner:
- Insatiable hunger and cravings
- Preoccupation with food
- Gastrointestinal issues
- Insomnia or sleep problems
- Loss of muscle mass
- Suppressed metabolism
- Decreased fitness performance
- Overeating or binge eating episodes
- Menstrual irregularities
- Hair loss
- Mood swings
- Disordered relationship food
Just to name a few!
Now, some people literally don't care about these side effects until it's too late, which makes me sad.
It is what is, I guess. If you don't want to be that person, keep reading!
If you have to eat that low low of calories in order to lose weight, that's a huge red flag on so many levels. If it's the range I mentioned above, that's probably below your BMR. Your BMR is the MINIMUM amount of calories to survive and breathe. 😣
The weight/fat loss won't be sustainable. Dang, there goes that word again.
Instead, STRONG friend, it would do you wonders to rebuild your metabolism by eating more calories over time and restoring your strength and muscle through a structured lifting plan.
Once you have literally built yourself back up, then you can move into a fat loss phase. And it takes as long as it takes to get to a place where you don't have to eat triple-digit calories.
And while you are out of a dieting phase... cement the big rocks that you probably failed to do when you were in the yo-yo diet cycle! The big rocks are things that will help the fat loss BE sustainable!
Lastly, if you haven't heard this before...
What most successful dieters don't do or do often is...
NOT DIET!
Too many diet phases are not good for the body!
I'll leave you with that!
